As you make plans for SOFT’s Annual Meeting this October, please also plan on spending some time in and around our city. While Richmond is probably most recognized as the Capital of the Confederacy, it is home to many cultural and historical contributions in the development of this Nation. Richmond is a growing city that has a small town feel - it has world class business and the spirit of hopeful entrepreneurialism - it is rooted in transformational history and is in the process of re-inventing itself. We hope that you discover its charm, its wonder, its legacy, and its future!
In order to plan your trip, of course, you can visit a host of Richmond websites. Below are a couple of our favorites:
Richmond Travel Guide: www.visitrichmondva.com
Virginia Is For Lovers: www.virginia.org
Since I love this city – and I want you to make the most of your time here, I’m going to recommend to you some of my favorite places to visit and things to do.

Welcome to Richmond, Virginia! We believe this is the perfect city to host the 2010 meeting of SOFT. We will be celebrating our 40th anniversary in what is conceivably one of the most important periods of time in the history of forensic science. What better place to contemplate our own past and plan for our future than in a city that has played a critical role in important periods of time in the history of our nation?!
Historical considerations are important, not only because they allow us to pay tribute but, more importantly, they allow us to understand where and how to move forward. And, every historical event, whether significant or otherwise, has a person leading the way – one who gets indelibly attached to that event because of strength or conviction or vision or steadfastness. So, join us in celebrating our history! Please bring your pictures and stories to Richmond! Some of you will be contacted specifically to help us pay tribute to those facts and people important in our history! If you have something that you believe is worth hailing, please let us know!! We are in the process of developing a creative anthology to help us celebrate - we need your help!
Please join our discussions on Facebook! You can find us at SOFT2010! We will be talking about the best places to eat and convene for merriment!
